How to Submit an e-Invoice in Malaysia

Whether you're using the free MyInvois Portal or software like TxBilling, the underlying process is the same five steps.

Step-by-step

  1. Gather transaction details — buyer TIN, item/service description, amount, applicable tax.
  2. Enter or generate the invoice — manually in the MyInvois Portal, or automatically from your billing software when you issue a normal invoice.
  3. Submit for validation — the invoice is sent to LHDN's MyInvois system.
  4. Receive the validated e-Invoice — LHDN returns a unique identifier and QR code, usually within seconds.
  5. Share with the buyer — send the validated e-Invoice (with QR code) as proof of the compliant transaction.

FAQ

How long does validation take?

LHDN typically validates e-Invoices in near real-time, usually within seconds.

What if I make a mistake after submission?

Validated e-Invoices generally can't be edited directly — you'll need to cancel (within the applicable window) or issue a credit/debit note, depending on the situation.
